Hercules (Steve Reeves) is summoned by Pelias, King of Iolcus to train his Army in the Art of War and more importantly to train his son, Prince Iphitus (Mimmo Palmara), who is to take over the role of King. Hercules arrives in Iolcus and saves Iole, Daughter of King Pelias (Sylva Koscina) as her horse team races out of control. She tells him of her Uncle, the former King that was murdered and that her cousin Jason (Fabrizio Mioni) is thought to be the murderer and has stolen the Golden Fleece a true gift of the Gods, which is considered by the populace to be the only true Symbol of Royalty. Ten years after his father the King was murdered, Jason returns to take his rightful place as King but King Pelias is not convinced that he is who he says he is and demands proof. He give Jason 3 months to retrieve the Golden Fleece that he took with him the night his father died. Hercules is sent with him on a voyage to unknown lands to bring back the Golden Fleece.
