A few words about the album:

From the conception of this project, I wanted our album to sound as much as possible as we do in live performance. Since we usually perform in quartets and without mics or amplification, we decided to sing in quartets instead of as a larger group so that weâd sound much as we do when one of our quartets shows up on your doorstep. We also chose not to use overdubbing or chorus effect to artificially enlarge the sound of the ensemble. We avoided using a jingle-singer studio sound in our singing, which may be satisfactory when relying on microphones but is colorless and inaudible in acoustic performance. I think this allowed the color of individual voices to emerge even as we strove to achieve a blended quartet sound. Finally, I wanted to showcase as many of our singers as possible in order to demonstrate that ours is a company with more than just one âAâ quartet. In fact, almost half of the companyâs singers appear on the album and each quartet offers a unique sound which I think adds a welcome variety to this project. Happy listening and Merry Christmas!
