Details:
Devastating Karate is a trio from Venice, CA. Nick Ratliff is the singer/guitarist. Monk Turner plays bass and Zach Lewis drums. They formed over the summer of 2005 and quickly gained a local following. After playing some backyard parties, local dive bars and LA clubs, they released their debut album - Devastating Karate. This spring they followed up with a tour of the Southwest, and are now getting airplay in several SW markets.

Their organic sound has drawn comparisons to such bands as Kings of Leon, The Pixies, Elvis Costello, The Supersuckers and early Police. This eclectic style is punctuated with an explosive stage act. Dark, A.D.D. ridden lyrics are delivered through driving beats, hooky bass lines, twang-punk guitar and snarling rock vocals.

Two marathon studio sessions, in downtown Los Angeles, captured their eponymous debut. From the rootsy twang of "Backlands", to the driving rockabilly of "Window Shade", and punky harmonies of "Malibu", the band delivers sounds to rival the devastating potential of a Chuck Norris round-house kick.

Back home, Devastating Karate is working on new material and performing around town. Check www.devastatingkarate.com for the latest news.
