Definition is the work of Steven James and Dean Smith. Two young talented people who have a common love for music. All the music on their C.D is written and performed by them.
Dean and Steven have known each other since they were children. They grew up listening to music and started playing around with instruments at an early age. After a few years they started a band then after a few changes ended up in a band called âMaulkâ. They went on to play sell-out gigs in Covent garden and the local pavilion they also played in front of thousands on the big stage at a local festival. They also have supported bands such as âBad Mannersâ and Spunge and have been featured in local press and had songs played on the local radio. They had interest from record labels and all was well. Then the inevitable split came. After a while the two of them realised that instead of worrying about what might have been they would put there talents together and do there own thing which is where âDefinitionâ came from.
The music you will hear is a mixture of their original rock roots mixed with hip-hop and reggae. All these types of music they listen too and are very much influenced by.
Whilst recording in their home built studio they built up a catalogue of songs. They then chose the best four and sent them off to various promotional agents. This is where it began for them they had a phone call from âPye Recordsâ and immediately went to London for a meeting. Weeks went buy and lots of negotiating later they found the ideal producer and then recorded âNew Morningâ their debut single. The single has since been released on âFastraxâ and is enjoying airplay up and down the country.
Now Definition are looking to up their game and get a full recording contract.
