Piano pop with soul that pulls you from the inside out and makes you think about what you're made of, where you're going, and why you exist in the world.
13 MP3 Songs
POP: Piano, FOLK: Political
Details:
The sound of Delphiâs music is the sound of thoughts that come both from deep within her heart and from somewhere far outside her scope of consciousness. Influenced by songwriters such as Leonard Cohen, Saul Williams, Tori Amos, Patti Smith, and Bob Dylan, Delphiâs lyrics are transcendentally moving and at the same time convey a restless evolution of the condition of the human spirit.
In her debut album, âThe Rememberingâ, that sheproduced and recorded herself under the name Redtail Records, she connects strong themes of personal growth with the overall evolution of society. Each song has a reality all its own and plays with structure, meaning, and music simultaneously. Her ever-growing spirituality is reflected in every track, whether it pertains to social issues or to personal relationships. The title of the album comes from a line in the second song on the album, âThose Cloudy Daysâ, in which she says, âOnly the remembering surviveâ. This song is about personal survival in the face of tumultuous relationships, and an initiation into adulthood and womanhood through these interactions. She says of the album, âI believe that you canât really learn anything unless you remember it. Our present situation as a culture would be different if each of us took the time to remember history, both personal and social. I remember best by writing
