"Red Dirt/Texas Country" - A little rock and country rolled up in one.
10 MP3 Songs
COUNTRY: Country Rock, ROCK: Acoustic
Details:
Youâll be hard pressed to find an artist that represents Texas/Red Dirt music as much as Deek Moore. Deek was born on Christmas Day in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and raised in Ada. He taught himself to play guitar during high school, began to dabble with songwriting in college and has moved forward to become the complete musician. After college, Deek moved to the Lone Star State settling first in Amarillo. Following years of writing and playing there, Deek moved to Austin in 1999 with the ulterior motive of pursuing music. He found himself performing at open mic nights and acoustic gigs before finally releasing his debut single in 2003 titled "Don't Tread on Me" which went into regular radio rotation in and around Central Texas. The decision to record his debut full length CD, â31â was spurred by the fan and industry approval of âDonât Tread on Meâ.
Deekâs music can not be boxed into one genreâ¦there are elements of Southern rock, classic country and 1980âs hair bands that blend to form a one-of-a-kind sound. Deekâs voice has exceptional range which allows for a simple and clean sound that mixes with his deep, soul bearing lyrics to yield songs that you canât get out of your head. Crowd favorites from his debut CD include âCinchâ, âBrokenâ and âUpside Downâ. Deekâs range and songwriting prowess are best exemplified by the song âLeave Me Aloneââ¦an emotional tale of the human heart.
Deek has played in and around the Austin area extensively, including shows at Hillâs Café and Stubbs to name a just a couple of venues. The Lockhart Chisholm Trail Festival, Buda Fire Fest and Guadapalooza top the list of festivals Deek has had the privilege of being a part. Jason Allen, Kevin Fowler, The Derailers, Aaron Watson and the Randy Rogers Band have all finished out the night for Deek. Another accolade on Deekâs wall is being one of the featured musicians in the December 2005 issue of "Oklahoma" magazine. Even as the venue list and press interest grows while Deek finishes out the night for other musicians, one thing will never change, âI play because I love it.â
