Delta Dreams, the music project written and directed by Quang Ly, explores the boundaries of atmosphere, emotional melodies, poetic imagery, and hypnotic grooves. It is dramatic as it is electronically orchestrated.
It is the soundtrack for our modern time.
A brief history
Delta Dreams was founded by Q in 1994 as an electronic music project. Over the years, however, Delta Dreams has expanded from techno and ambient, to incorporating sensual female vocalists in the trip hop, electronica, trance, and drum and bass genres. His approach to song writing is to utilize cutting edge technology such as samplers, computers, and software in addition to traditional instruments like guitars and live drums. This unique blend of production gives Delta Dreams a style that is accessible but still challenging to listen to.
Q has also composed the soundtrack for the dark and disturbing film 'Daniel' by Candeleria Pictures about a man who's about to lose control. Electrip Films also commissioned Q to compose a goa-trance soundtrack to the Equilon Pipeline commercial. Experiences in soundtrack composition prove that his diversity in making music can also be suited for motion picture.
In May of 2006, Delta Dreams released the album 'Passport', which was critically acclaimed by many people in the music industry including Alan Wilder of Recoil (former Depeche Mode member) as a transendental record. The album features a multitude of guest vocalists to provide the human aspect in electronic music while maintaining its uneasy edge. "The Passport title is a way to connect a diverse set of songs together and give them continuity. It is sort of like a ticket to travel and experience new ideas." - Q.
