Details:
Renes was born in Haiti, âa country where MUSIC is inside everybodyâ and he is influenced by many musical styles among them, Kompa, Gospel, Jazz, Funk, RnB, Reggae, Latin Jazz and Afro Cuban music. His idol musicians include bass player Marcus Miller, Yves Abel(from Haiti) and Al Jarreau. He is also a fan of Mario Canonge (piano); Stéphane Huchard and Jean Philipe Fanfant (drums); Beethova Obas (for his singing and guitar comping) and the great Bobby Mc Ferrin, his main source of inspiration for beatboxing.
He started doing beatbox sounds without knowing it. He discovered that he could do it because someone who was listening to him told him to do "IT" again. -What??? -your beatbox! -My what? -"Your beatbox...those drum sounds that you were doing with your mouth,". That's how he knew that he was doing something that not everyone could do, something which later helped him with his musical compositions. Later on, after listening to Bobby Mc Ferrin's "Don't Worry be happy", he decided to use his skills in his own music. Instead of using a drum machine or drum kit(which he could not afford anyway), he started using his mouth to do various sounds. This includes drum, bass, double bass, guitar, maracas, brass and random special effects...
