Details:
Using the piano as a voice through a personal tragedy, Laura Shay embarked on her musical career at 16 years of age when she played an open mic in her home neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia. Now, six years later, Shay is armed with a full band, a grittier sound, and an arsenal of songs that go beyond her 22 years.

With a wide range of influences running the gamut of Tori Amos, Stevie Nicks, Natalie Merchant, and Adam Duritz, the band features newcomer Andy McGowan on bass, Dominic Cole on guitar and Michael Litt on drums. The band formed about two years ago and has been gigging steadily in the Philadelphia region. Highlight venues include The Tin Angel and Grape Street Philadelphia.

Shay is self-taught on both piano and guitar. Her lyrics are confessional, observant and brutally honest. The band provides a unique texture to her songs, but even alone, Shay captivates her audiences.

She received some media attention early in her career appearing on Good Day Philadelphia, receiving airplay on [WXPN's] Michaela Majoun's Women's Music Hour, and also making an in studio appearance on the legendary Gene Shay Show (no relation.)

Her first album, Stories of My Life, was released when she was 18 years old. Now four years later, and with a full band behind her, Shay has released her anticipated full-length follow-up, officially entitled "To a Place." Self-produced and engineered by Grammy-award winner Glenn Barratt, the album gives a raw glimpse into the evolution of this intriguing artist. Whether Shay takes you on a road trip or a spiritual journey, "To a Place" promises to be an adventure you'll never forget.
