Hi. As above... Am I missing something? At "my tradebit/files/edit file" everything seems ok, but when i click "preview" i see main page of tradebit. Before adding MP3 version everything was ok.

Hey TradeBit admins,

First of all, I'd like to thank u for this wonderful website. I'm a new tradebit user, just made a few sales.

I have a question on whether is it possible to embed youtube videos in the tradebit product/sales page(the page which users see before they buy). If it is possible plz explain to me how to do it. I personally feel that I'd be able to sell better if I can embed videos in to the sales page.

The Paypal button code (html) cut & pasted from that generated in Tradebit works just fine. However I just wonder if the button size can be reduced at all? It would look better on some websites if it could be made smaller.

Multiple snippets for ONE album (mp3) product (3 replies)

Hi,
Hope this post ends up in correct place - admin, please move if incorrect.

My question is, how may I arrange it so that I can get several mp3 snippets for a single album? ie One snippet for each track. How is it done?

The options under "my files" only allows for one snippet, but I see from the sales pages, some albums do in fact have snippets for all the tracks on the album.

Don't want people to be able to "download and play locally"! (1 reply)

When I added a 128 bitrate version of my song for use as a preview, underneath where it plays (after a customer clicks on the 'Buy this file' link) it says "you may download the preview file to play locally"

I don't want people to be able to download it to play locally! I want to sell my MP3 files while allowing people to listen to the track in its entirety before they purchase it. Is there any way to prevent this?

Also, the reason I have the sample at 128 is because when I went to make 64kbps copies of my files, I got an error message at the bottom, and it wouldn't create a 64kbps version for me. Is this where the problem lies? How do I fix these things?

Folks, a short heads up on the presentation of your files. Like pictures, the MP3 files WITH a preview are selling much much better than the files you just enter a description for. People want to be SURE that thy buy the real thing!

We offer that "create preview" button in the edit page of your files, if the file ends on .mp3

Try it, it will boost your sales!

Can't Make My MP3 Files Public! (6 replies)

Hi Puzzler or anyone else that can help! I've added to MP3 fils and I can view them under "Browse Uploads". But whenever I try to put the check mark beside them make them public and add them to my "My Files" section under R&B I get this error:

-> usr/hardknock/pub/3013/Was not able to insert into TBFILES! Fatal: insert into TBFILES .....

Some one please help, thank you!!!!

On IE7, some do not see the flash player (no replies)

Hi!

We have no idea, why some of you do not see the flash player under IE7. With the MP3 files we sell, we use that player for the preview.

If you have the same problem like a few others (including myself on one machine), you will see a link named "Get flash player", but that does not help!

Strange, we work on it!

I asked if I'm supposed to convert once I get to tradebit and there was no answer. Can someone please help me? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong in uploading MP3s. I converted on my computer and then uploaded and then built a collection product (zip file).

Is this not right? How do I troubleshoot? Is there some way to test files once on tradebit?

I have mp3 files in a .zip file and for some reason they can't be heard, only static is heard.

Is there a way to test these files once you upload to tradebit because they work fine locally - on my computer but I can't seem to test them once I upload to tradebit. I don't know if they are not uploading correctly, not zipping correctly or at what point I'm making a mistake or they cease to work.

Hi Ralf:

1. Thanks for all the help. I followed your tutorial on creating a preview button for an mp3 but I received an errror. The button says error instead of the mp3 name and it doesn't play the mp3.

2. Is it possible to leave the preview at the original quality instead of converting to 64kps?

3. Can we use these previews outside of our tradbit subdomain? For example: can we place a button preview on ebay?

4. Can we have mp3 button previews for items that aren't mp3s? For example: can we place a preview button on an ebook or zip files containing mp3s?

Ok folks, on popular demand and because around 10 different people asked me today i need to pop up one blog posting I made last year:

shows you how to use MP3 files IN your pages in various ways. I recommend to use a flash player, where users can start and stop the sound. everything else is just annoying IMHO!

LAME revisited : MP3 conversion (no replies)

With the new CDbaby songs on tradebit, we had to convert a looooot of MP3 files for previews and were absolutly happy about the LAME encoder/decoder!

Together with madplay you get an unbeatable duo of tools for your Linux server...

You can easily convert mp3 songs from MP3 to WAV, PCM or other formats. I am deeply impressed by the speed, the whole conversion on the tools server took less than 2 days and that for 500,000 files: respect!

LAME is sweat for our server side conversion, but I wonder what you folks are using to convert MP3 files on your desktop. Especially on the mac?

I am preparing a new workstation here and before I start i wanted to have all test software installed on the old box! So, what are you using and recommend?

hi everybody:

the questions came up again yesterday. some people upload their own mp3 preview files which play wrong in the flash player. if you want to use the flash player and the songs play to fast, you might need to reconvert it online in the member section.

Album creation is done with MP3wrap (2 replies)

As stated before, the album creation on the serverside is done with MP3wrap, which connects single MP3 files to one large (MP3 merge).

You can split up these albums again with MP3split, another open source program, you will find if you google for the term "mp3split".

both programs are free and open source!

i uploaded a file that i want to embed in my myspace profile. i can't seem to get it to work though, i can't seem to find the correct url that makes it play. i THINK it's an MP3, though it's possible it's a wav or something of the type. it was recorded on a computer, then sent to me via IM. is there something i'm missing? am i waaaaaaay off here? thanks for any help in advance.

Problems in podcast RSS display? (no replies)

Hi there,

some complained about an error message in their podcast feed like:

The XML page cannot be displayed 
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

That happens, if use special characters like © or ·, probably because you copied over some description from Word or another WYSIWYG editor...

Remove these characters and everything will be fine!

Previews older than 3 weeks... (no replies)

Folks,

on some of the uploaded MP3 files are still old preview files, which have been created before we changed the configuration of the MP3 conversion: you might convert these files again, because the player has still the mickey mouse effect on these old files...

The free 20MB account attracted a lot of people who publish copyright material. We had long sessions, deleting those accounts!

We are a responsible digital goods platform with now over 2,000 merchants relying on us. Under no circumstance can we accept users, who play outside the rules. Please help us to identify illegal software and MP3 files, so we can delete that stuff!

The free account should stay, but if that continues, we sooner or later got to end that offer :-(

Bug fixed in MP3 conversion... (no replies)

Hi folks,

we had a little problem with the server side conversion, if the file you uploaded did not end in ".mp3" ... LAME created a white noise file, because it did not recognize the file format. Now we added the parameter "--mp3input" and everything works as planned!
