I find ebooks a bit of a legal grey area, I also have been uploading ebooks (some text books). Dont know if anyone has any ideas on were I stand doing this..

First of all, I am not a lawyer and if you really start selling ebooks on a greater scale you should either work with a good retailer (like I do), who makes sure, that the books that you distribute are no copyright violation or you get yourself at least some basic infos from a lawyer, what could happen. I think in the US it is a bit more complicated than in Europe, because in Europe you can only be sued for the real damage you caused. And if you sell an eBook 100 times for 5 dollars, the maximum damage can be 500 dollars in that case. Or, if you give a away an ebook, which is sold for 20 dollars for free, you caused the amount downloaded x 20 US$ in damage.

In your case I would take a look at the publishers homepage of the book and look for the legal terms. If they give the book away for free, I am sure you can do too, if you link to their homepage and make clear, that it is their work.

I signed up for tradebit. I am not sure what account I should have signed up for. I do have a lot of recipes ,ebooks, and Articles that I have collected. Which I like to sell. Also I am currently converting some to audio and hope to sell them online . I also would like to start my own group selling some of the items. Please let me know which account I would need. I really want to start out doing the right thing.

Verna, just go with the publisher account. That is the only account we offer at the moment. The others were discontinued... The forum still carries the old info, though!
