Listing order in the catalog

Listing order in the catalog

The products in the catalog are listed by the following order:

First: All products with PREVIEW, THUMBNAIL and PICTURE - sorted by date descending

Second: All products with THUMBNAIL and PICTURE - date descending

Third: All products with either THUMB or PIC - date descending

and then the rest.

Some of the merchants try to trick that, by assigning the same picture they use to the previews as well. Do not do that, the results can be the opposite of what was planned...

Any reason why you decide to sort by date decending and show newer products first? I figured you would want to give priority to sellers who have been selling files here longer. Are the star ratings not taken into account?

I FULLY agree. Sellers who have been with Tradebit the longest should get priority with listings at the top then descending!

complicated question. I agree that there should be some extra power for the trusted sellers ... hmmm, I will think of something!
yet it is important to have products up, that are described properly and provide a lot of info for the potential buyer.

I was more considering something along the lines of the following scenario:

I am selling a file. A customer comes along and buys my file. He figures out he can sell the file on here even though I have tried to prevent this. He comes up with a similiar title, description and keywords, and uploads images for both picture and thumbnail, so his file will rank similiar to mine. He lists his file for 50 cents less than mine. So now, not only is his file cheaper than mine, but it is also listed before mine since it is newer. This is frustrating!

What is frustrating are the sellers, and they know who they are, that just add a graphic as a preview to jump up the display list. These sellers shouldn't have the nerve to question the display priority!

Makes the priority list pointless and until Tradebit does something about it there is not any point in adding a preview file.

I am on it and I will kill these entries! In fact we will have a better filtering in place soon!

Ralf,

I hope the system you use not only kill's the entry but deletes the file on sale that are related. That way the sellers will think twice about cheating the system.

We are currently testing out a new order, that will come into place for logged in users first, so we can tinker with it!
