Dealers Buying item then copy it and RESELL IT!

What can be done here? I have several dealers now who simply buy a copy of my item, either directly here or on other sites, then copy it EXACTLY and resell it here! ******* did it then agreed to remove the items, He DID remove them and has now again relisted them and won't reply to my emails. User rttremblay bought manuals on Ecrater from me last year and has now posted them here. This is costing me $$ and don't know what to do??

Watermark your files - maybe with a little grey number code in the PDFs or with the various watermark tools out there. Once you find a copied file, let us know - we check it and ban the seller!

Look you are a computer wiz, and my son is a internet security person who is paid by companies to hack their sites. He has shown me how easy it is to remove watermarks. I won't go into the simplicity of it but IT IS SIMPLE. The unfortunate thing is that almost anyone with minimal computer savy can remove watermarks. If you allow, as you must, a customer to print the info to repair the vehicle then you open yourself up to removal. If you know of a foolproof way PLEASE let me know.

Watermarks, background images, headers, footers, passwords and even 256 bit encryption in a PDF file can all be removed in seconds with very very little effort. I personally don't bother doing this on my files for this very reason. You can however make it harder for people to resell your PDF's it's very simple and will allow printing. Contact me through one of my files and i will elaborate.

well - people downloading your stuff and republishing it might just overlook a watermark or a little code on page 172... once you added that i can identify the copycats and delete them.

that means: hours of their work go down the drain and they will think twice if they do it again...

that is the best we can do here!

Ralf I do like the new sale notification emails without the link to the buyer's mall in them. This should cut down on some of the file stealing
