Download File Name Changed

Download File Name Changed

I'm selling a DVD ISO image file that is a Collection of multi-part zip file that looks something like this:
DVD_Image.zip.001
DVD_Image.zip.002
DVD_Image.zip.003
DVD_Image.zip.004

When the customer purchases the DVD image file and downloads it, Tradebit renames the files to something like this:
DVD_Image.zip.001
DVD_Image.zip2.002
DVD_Image.zip3.003
DVD_Image.zip4.004

They then can't reassemble the file using 7-zip without having to remove the added numbers.

Is there anyway of stopping this from happening?

Thanks for your help

That looks weird. I do not think that it is us, changing the names you listed above, rather a Windows process that does it! If you give me a link to an example product, I would buy it and go thru the process to see, what we can do!

Hi Puzzler,

Thanks for responding. It seems to do it using Seamonky, IE, and Opera as well as the Free Download mananger.

Here's one to take a look at:

Thanks again for your help.

If you look into the files contained in this selection, you see that the filenames ON tradebit are still as planned:

[usr/diatonis/prv/2007/dvd-video-diatonis-bwctyt-tradebit-v1-0.zip.002]

for example... that means Windows itself is not happy with 2 dots!

blabla.zip.001
and
blabla.zip.002

ends up as

blabla.zip1.001
and
blabla.zip2.002

because the .ZIP is the first ending of the file.

Can you use 7zip to use different names like

blabla-zip.001 ??? that would solve that case, because we have no influence on the actions of Windows after downloading :-/

Hi Ralf,

Thanks for your help. I'll remove the extra dot.

Thanks again

Hi Ralf,

Sorry to bother you again. It appears that taking out the extra "." didn't work.

It still adds a number as it did before. Here's an image that shows the download URL when I positioned the mouse above the "start download" button. It's the Perception5 that is the added number.

Here's a link to where I have the same multi-part zip files so you can compare.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks again for your help.

I think I know what the problem is now.... it is the download center, that tries to avoid duplicate files and adds a number of the collection at the end. I will try to find and fix that now!

PS: done, mailed you the test result... should work now!
