Sorry but I'm unclear about this new policy that says "No PDF Manuals". Does that mean you can't sell any PDF files anymore? Or is just referring to technical manuals such as a manual about a specific model and make car.

I'm asking because I wouldn't call all PDFs files manuals, so this has me confused.

I understand the reason for this policy is to minimize duplicate content, but some people have original content they want to sell in PDF form because it is accessible to PC and mac users alike.

Thanks,

[General File hosting] Re: starting selling

hi ledit and welcome to tradebit!

i will try to answer your questions:

>1. Do you really host for free ? Meaning, I saw something about a 100 $ fee for setting up a web site on yours for the clients ( not interested at all since will have my own web site for bio, samples, etc.. ). For the commission, I understood allready

Yes, the file hosting for merchants is free. Our idea is to provide only sales supporting file additions around your products for free. Some need previews, some need pictures or movies. These additional files and the products are hosted for free on a revenue sharing model.

Tradebit is not for file hosting, it is for file selling and provides the tools and space around that purpose. Every other model was too complicated.

> 2. Can a client put your link into a myspace page for affiliation ?

Yes, myspace codes and facebook integration bring additional affiliate revenue on customers, clicking these links. The affiliate page has some link code examples for that!

>3. My paypal account is set, at least, its created and I guess it can receive money, but I didin't get the thing about clickbank and the data transfer thing for paypal.

As a publisher, you give us your product to resell on tradebit. Additionally you can use your paypal button from the member area here to sell on your own pages. For that, we must be notified, if a sale for a tradebit hosted product reaches your account. That is possible with the IPN configuration on paypal. IPN = instant payment notification. The URL for that is in the member area in tradebit under the sales section.

>4. I have also three photo collages ( jpeg or bitmap pics ) can I sell them on the site ?

Sure, let it rain content :-)

> 5. If ever my music or pictures would be considered as not suitable to be put on your website ( no @#$%&, only political audio and photo collages ( its what I have to offer basically ), do I get any notice ? Can I contest it, can part of my work ( the considered unsuitable ) be taken off but the goods kept in ?

If it is basically conform with the paypal guidelines, you are safe. If you violate these guidelines with 1 file out of 20 or so, we will email you!

> 6. Is sample service ( mp3 or small 30 secondes wav ) offered by your company ? at what cost ? I saw there was an attempt by the site to sample a file whenever downloaded, but the results were only distortion noize ( so I took it off, but would be intereste4d of having a small mp3 sample for each song be on each page to give my customers an idea ).

We recommend Audacity to create MP3 snippets as previews. You can upload these files and sort them into the category "User Frontend -> Previews". From there you may assign them to the products. Actually we think this is needed to sell.

>7. I also a 20 minute documentary to sell, average weight being of a 4gigs AVI file for the time being ( what format and up till what amount of data can we upload for a film ?

Puh... 4 gigs might be a burden for the consumer. I would recommend to downsize the movie to a file of 2 Gigs max! It is possible to sell huge files, but some customers just do not have the bandwidth to become happy with that. Cable modems and DSL are fine, but still no fiber optics :-)

Hope that helps?

I didn't realize that bulk upload was the old way that I had been using all along. If folks who sell ebooks and software and want to use an image can still use it rather than the new way, that's great. Maybe you could call it something like 'traditional upload" instead of "bulk."

Did I miss something? I uploaded a file and wrote a description and it all went well except that there is no picture to go with my product. Previously, this was all done in one step. I see on the editing page that there is a way to add photos to the descrption that are already uploaded but how do I upload new photos to support my product?

Thank you VERY MUCH Ralf!!

I grew accustomed to using HTML when I edited my pages and I'm not sure if you had people abusing the use of HTML or not in the past, but for the items I sell (ebooks) its great to have a page Editor where I can give my sales pages a "spiced" up look.

Thanks Much!
