Living Under Venus: Soul Frame
Living Under Venus (“LUV”) is the recently formed project of four artists from Calgary, Los Angeles and Winnipeg. LUV is seeking licensing for the just completed, pre-release ‘Soul Frame’, which is a unique style of high-energy rock with wisdom and savoir-faire drawn from deep music experiences to create their signature sound. Soul Frame is direct, edgy and groove-laden, modern rock. LUV takes deliberate aim at the modern rock fan with insightful lyrics, unique vocal stylings and gritty artistic integrity. LUV unifies the music, lyrics and a strong image to create a formidable project to attract and retain fans.
Darren Moore (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards) has performed as a professional musician since age 14, performing and recording with touring artists throughout Canada, including Harlequin and Seventh Heaven. Darren has played alongside such artists as: Foghat, REO Speedwagon, Long John Baldry, Chilliwack, Prism, Headpins, Crowded House, to name a few.
Brent Fitz (drums) and Darren Moore began their music careers together touring with Seventh Heaven, based out of Winnipeg. Darren moved west to write for a hard rock act based out of Los Angeles and Brent relocated to Los Angeles and became an original member of Union, aligned with John Corrabi (Motley Crue) and Bruce Kulick (Kiss). Brent has played and recorded with numerous recording artists, including Theory Of A Deadman, Vince Neil, Alice Cooper, Y&T, Union, Lamya, Bullet Boys, Bob Kulick’s ‘A Portrait Of A Story Teller, A Tribute To Rod Stewart’ and ‘The Return Of The Comet, A Tribute To Ace Frehley.’
Through their hectic schedules, over the two years, Darren and Brent reunited and have managed to start writing/recording sessions for this project in Los Angeles. Ken Eichel and James Cote soon after became a part of this ‘discovery period’ for the project.
Ken Eichel (guitar, vocals) contributes unique yet accessible guitar stylings using a series of unique guitar tunings. Ken takes his technical abilities on guitar and subdues them into a series of bold statements, rather than a technical display.
Jim Cote (bass, vocals) contributes experience in all facets of music. Jim has recorded on such projects as Hostage, a Bruce Willis film, toured with Harlequin, Mood Swings, produced by Danny Lowe (creator of Q-Sound); Funeral Factory, featured on Much Music and other original projects, has composed original scores for commercial use by local radio and television with a live performance history including Burton Cummings and playing in opening acts for such artists as Nickelback, Sass Jordan, Alanah Myles, Chilliwack, April Wine and David Wilcox.
Darren, Brent, Ken and Jim collectively wrote 40 songs and selected 11 for Soul Frame. Soul Frame was recorded in Los Angeles, Calgary and Winnipeg. Throughout the process LUV recruited the guest talents of Jamie Hunting (David Lee Roth, Eddie Money), Spider (Loverboy, Street Heart, Tom Cochrane, Kim Mitchell) and Dylan Hermiston (Remy Shand, Chantal Kreviazuk, McMaster & James, Harlequin, Deadbeat Honeymooners).
