Details:
"What a WILD RIDE 2006 has been… Just days ago I released my first independent solo record and it has truly been an AMAZING adventure", quotes Mark Castrillon. With virtually NO band other than his best friend (and guitar player) STEVE FRANGADAKIS by his side, Mark sat down with a focus on making a "timeless" record that could cross over genres and appeal to people globally and not just in the U.S. "We went back to basics… We wanted to make records the way people used to make them… with REAL songs, REAL musicianship and NO bullshit," says Mark.

Mark credits DOUG TRANTOW who engineered, mixed and produced this amazing body of work which he is extremely proud of. "Doug saw my vision of making a record with great songs that blended my love of acoustic guitar with straight-ahead commercial rock. In the studio we had ''no boundaries.'' Each song is unique and different from the last. Doug has engineered and mixed so many great records and worked with so many talented artists, so I was ecstatic to have him at the helm." Doug''s credits include producing & engineering platinum selling artists SUBLIME, HANSON, BETTER THAN EZRA, BARENAKED LADIES, HOOTIE & THE BLOWFISH & KORN, to name a few.

Backing Mark and Steve in the Studio were friends and world-renowned musicians MARCO MENDOZA on Bass (Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Soul Sirkus, The Cranberries), JOEY HEREDIA on Drums (Steve Lukather, Perry Farrell, Nuno Bettencourt), JOHN NAU on keys (James Blunt, Hootie & The Blowfish), and JON FITZGERALD handling percussion duties.

Of Peruvian/French/Yugoslavian decent and born & raised in L.A., Mark began his musical career at the ripe age of 8, studying the saxophone then eventually learning to play half-a-dozen other woodwind instruments. At 14, came the electric guitar and his life would change 4-ever. Along the way he would teach himself to play the bass and piano.

"Since then it has been a whirlwind of musical endeavors", cites Mark. Performing in venues all over the U.S. and abroad, working with dozens of touring cover bands, recording & touring with successful latin-rock band DESVIO in the the late 90''s, writing & recording with BRET MICHAELS (of POISON fame) for Bret''s 2003 solo debut, "Songs of Life", writing for film & television and performing with the late great drummer Tony Thompson (of Power Station, David Bowie and Chic fame).
