55 West started out as just one person's hopes to get his music out. That one person would be me, Singer/songwriter Alberto Daglio. Having written, recorded and produced the entire album from my bedroom (on 55 west St.), I set out to find musicians who could not only help recreate the sound, but enhance it with their own influences.
After a year long recording odyssey, a million open mics, and a set of gigs both national and international, the time came to complete 55 West. Having worked in a couple other projects I soon found out that finding the right musicians wasn't gonna be easy. Most musicians simply weren't adequate enough for the style, or just didn't want to get involved in a "starting" band, (Musicians, they all want to get paid without the hard work!). Finally, it all came together in quite a small amount of time and the band went from one of me to four of us. 55 West is officially: Alberto Daglio on acoustic guitar/ vocals, Shawn Dumont on drums, Tom Stepsis on Bass, and Joe Depasquale on electric guitar. It only took a couple of gigs to know we were on to something special. Come check us out, you won't regret it!!
The CD itself, "YesterdayTomorrowToday", is very emotionally driven and melancholically powerful. Its hopeful mood provides enough space for catchy and energetic harmonies, rocking guitars, And quite a bit of experimental synth. In these songs, there are many stories, both old and new, that needed to be told. These stories are mine as well as they are yours. Life is a mixture of making mistakes, bouncing back and respecting the past as a way to understand the future. Nothing is ever over, it only changes. How and what it changes into is up to you my friends!
That's it for that. I hope you enjoy the CD as much as I enjoyed making it. Please feel free to send me feedback and any comments you may have, whether good or bad. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? Be good everyone.
