Details:
The long awaited worship album from award winning Hamilton musician Christopher Clause is finally here!

“surrendering…everything” is a powerful collection of intimate and Spirit-filled music for congregational worship that reminds the listener of the importance of placing God first in all things. “I have been blessed by God incredibly in the last four years, and this album is a snapshot of my journey from 2002 until now.” states Clause, who played all of the instruments on this album except for one track. “God has taught me that being a Christian means living a lifestyle of worship 24/7. It is a challenge, but a most beautiful one. In order to truly live, we need to surrender all that we are, all that we love, and all that we hold dear to Jesus. Anything less than total surrender is a hollow and purposeless existence.”

The collection of 12 songs range from the traditional Celtic-inspired reworking of the old hymn, “MY SHEPHERD” (with an additional refrain written by Christopher) to “CALLED TO REVOLUTION”, a powerful WHO/Pete Townshend-inspired call to worship. “I do feel that we have been called to a revolution – a revolution in our churches. If we love Jesus, we have been called to love our neighbours as ourselves. We have spent too much time judging and not enough time embracing. I believe in a God who loves His creation, and a God that bestows mercy and grace to all those who desire to know Him. It is time to stop making the church into a glorified social club, and transform it into a mission station. There are too many hurting people in need of God’s grace to do otherwise.”

Christopher is the worship pastor at James Street Baptist Church in downtown Hamilton, and has been organizing Beatles tribute concerts at the church to raise money for Challenge 2006. “Challenge 2006 is an initiative begun by James Street in order to raise money to pay for the heat and hydro used while our outreach groups such as OUT OF THE COLD use the building to feed and house the homeless. Our church is an old building built in 1882, and the monthly utilities bills in the winter when we run these programs are astronomical. Being a small community, we need to find creative ways to pay the bills or we won’t be able to run these programs.” In 2005, the concerts contributed $2500 to the cause and won James Street and Christopher a Hamilton Music Scene BEST MUSICAL EVENT OF THE YEAR AWARD for the FOR GEORGE (Harrison) tribute in February. “I was so pleased about the Hamilton Music Scene award. The recognition is wonderful and my hope is that more people hear about the need in our city, and that they respond to that need.”

“All of the songs on this album were meant to be sung by the body of Christ”, states Clause. “They were written as congregational worship songs, but I am happy that the music stands up on it’s own merits as a record. And of course, my influences can be heard all throughout the record, so do not be surprised to hear Beatles and Who references throughout. In fact, the sound of my ’61 Gretsch Tennessean really colours the album nicely.”

Lead sheets of most of the songs on “surrendering…everything” can be found at https://www.tradebit.com for free download for use in worship services.

There will be an evening called “experience worship” on Sunday April 2 at 6:30 p.m. at James Street to celebrate what God is doing in our city and in the James Street community, and to celebrate the release of Christopher’s new album. All are invited.
