Household Carpentry provides something practical on the subject of carpentry for home use. It will aid those with limited training in carpentry in the selection and use of carpentry tools, in the making of many useful home conveniences and in the doing of certain repair work about the home.

The tools illustrated are all those necessary for general carpentry work. It is not necessary that all be acquired before much worth-while work can be done. They are placed in the book in the order of their frequency of use -- those appearing at the beginning of the book being used most frequently. It is suggested that wherever a complete set cannot be had the tools be acquired in the order illustrated.

Originally published in 1920s and authored by one of the foremost teachers of woodwork and carpentry at that time, this book should, through its concise, simple and practical descriptions, enable many to make, reconstruct or repair much of the household equipment involving the use of carpentry tools. It is complete, treating as it does with the selection, care and use of the essential tools and describing in detail the materials, equipment and operations required for forty-six household carpentry projects. To those familiar with the use of woodworking tools and woodworking operations, it will suggest new things to construct, and it will introduce, to others, a line of activity which will prove useful and enjoyable.
