Details:
This band started a side project but turned into much more. Both Dave and Jon are in other Chicago bands that are still active on the scene (Seven Day Run and The Time Beings, respectively). Both songwriters had material that didn''t quite fit the mold of their existing groups, so they decided to forge ahead and make something entirely new. The result is a refreshing mix of styles that sounds new yet oddly familiar: the songs range from the upbeat melancholy funk of "Follow Me Down" to the swaggering, bluesy rock of "Sunshine" to the reggae-infused staccato stomp of "So You Know".
The sound is the result of six very different musical backgrounds. Where Dave leans toward the the moodier rock songcraft of Peter Gabriel, The Smiths and Freedy Johnston, Jon''s influences from the power pop arena (XTC, The Beatles, Matthew Sweet) infuse the collaboration with excellent hooks and inspired guitar riffery. It also doesn''t hurt when you''ve got an incredible vocalist who''s got more soul in her left pinkie than the entire past 3 seasons of American Idol.
Five fun facts about the band:
1) Colleen has performed live onstage with Buddy Guy at Legends in Chicago.
2) Dave and Sean have been in bands together since high school. The first song they ever played together was Ozzy Osbourne''s Crazy Train, which should never, ever be attempted on a cheap Casio keyboard.
3) Ed and his wife own a kids clothing store called Ticklebug, where our CD can''t be played due to explicit lyrics.
4) Adam has no uvula.
5) Jon''s origami skills are second to none.
