''Looking for the Weekend'' is the debut album from the Nottingham band ''White Orchids''. It features 10 totally original songs, performed by 6 musicians who just enjoy playing good music. It blends well-written lyrics with equally melodic guitar parts, creating a unique pop/rock sound. The opening track ''Looking For The Weekend'' almost has a skater rock feel, with a good hard hitting rhythm which just makes you want to smile. ''Closer'' is definitely a guitar driven song, with a classic rock vibe but still done in a modern contemporary style. The tracks ''With You'' and ''Groovin'' are also stand out tracks from the album and venture into the softer sound which the band can produce.
These sort of songs really do suit the excellent vocals which singer Laura Cox can deliver. The well thought out order of the tracks makes the album an easy listen from start to finish, taking you on a journey through the different styles. The final track, ''The Air That I Breathe'' brings the album to a close in a very upbeat mood using lots of synth-sounds and this also
demonstrates the different aspects of the band
