Details:

The soul of an artist is in constant struggle between the visions of what has come before, where we are now, and where we
are going. Creativity does not come easy and inspiration is often the result of trial and effort. And then there is the
question, “Do we try to please the popular expectations or do we actively avoid the popularity quest to pursue our own
uncharted ingenuity?”

John has offered his response to these questions through his spirited music in this CD.

While away from his native Louisiana pursuing his ‘daytime’ career, John performed, arranged, and produced this wonderful
collection of music. As a result, some of the songs reflect the exiled view of living away from home, while others express the
hardships and joys of a Southwest Louisiana existence.

These tracks represent what Cajun music sounds like as presented by a native son who has returned home and invited
his neighbors in a celebration of who they are and to remember where they came from.

It has been a pleasure to be a part of John’s musical journey and I trust there will be many more instances to join him in
keeping French music alive in the Bayou State.

Years ago, I needed a Cajun accordion player for a show we had booked at the University of Nebraska because my regular
accordion/keyboard player was sick. David Rachou of La Louisianne Records suggested John Trahan. He showed up, fit right in with the rest of the band and played great. Since then, John has played many other shows with us including recording a live CD at Billy Bob’s Texas. Along the way we have become good friends. Both of us have a mutual respect and love for our roots in South Louisiana’s Cajun Music.

“My My Louisiana” was inspired, suggested and co-written with my hero, Jimmy C. Newman. Jimmy and I are thrilled that John picked our song to record along with the great songs he had already selected. The music is heartfelt and the whole album takes me back to a simpler time in the Louisiana I grew up in and love so much. John carries his music to the next generation with the love and passion of the true Cajun he is.

I know you’ll enjoy all John’s work and appreciate his talent and
dedication. I have for a long time.
