MP3 Franklin Lounge - Cowboys and Hippies
An outlaw country waltz dedicated to cowboys and hippies. In the words of Hank Jr., "Why can''t we all just get a long neck."
I think Willie, Waylon, David Allan Coe and Gram parsons will all approve of this tune. Crying Pedal Steel and Piano included.

While on Country Thunder tour, I bought a used POD in a pawn shop in Ennis, Texas. I would sit on the tour bus and noodle with my POD and laptop. Somewhere in between El Paso and Tucson, I felt a surge of Willie and Waylon and this song was born. It was a classic country outlaw waltz. At the time, I was going between the country scene and the hippy scene and I wanted to dedicate a song to both camps. Knowing what I wanted to say but being unable to say it, I laid the song to rest.
Fast forward a couple years to a sleepy California beach town, with the dusty west Texas desert was faded in the rear view mirror. While working in the studio with a new band, I began pulling out unfinished material to run by the the guys. George liked this song, and overnight wrote much of the lyrics. After some refinement the song was in the can.
