After playing together off and on for years, Finlay Fields began their first series of shows in the local St. Louis Music scene in the winter of 2009. The following summer saw more shows and the release of their first full-length studio album “What Songs Cannot Repay.” Taken from the lyrics of an old hymn, the title reflects the heart of the songs produced: an attempt to sing about the very thing that songs will never truly be able to capture. The tracks follow the story of every man and woman as they grabble with questions, seek answers, and find what it means to be given to what they can’t fully describe.
