Though I continued to write throughout the 1990s, life choices and circumstances precluded me from recording again until 1999. A fine artist friend of mine had invented a saint - St. Quilta the Comforter. I was drawn to that imagery and asked her to create a piece of art incorporating St. Quilta into something I could use for an album cover. The very notion of inventing a saint is of the same family of the the playfulness, freedom, and essence of the expressive feeling of the art that was enlivening my songwriting. The renditions are more impassioned, the tone colours more varied, the range of emotion more dramatic, and the poetry more naked.
