Home to Henry combines hummable melodies and tautly controlled dynamics with a lyrical ability to express complicated emotions simply yet creatively and to portray characters in song with real depth and feeling.
Their music is first and foremost about the tune: the song’s the thing. Every song contains a melody that sticks. The arrangements are clever without being too cute, and each song has wonderful little “bits” for the careful listener to catch.
The lyrics cover topics both common and unusual for a rock band. For every “relationship” song, there’s a song about a daughter dealing with her mother’s loss of memory, or a song like “Feels Like Winter,” which takes some tried ‘n true rock ‘n roll clichés and flips them to tragic effect.
Home to Henry‘s first record is entitled “Another Life” Recorded in its entirety at Monster Island Studios in Chelsea, it contains 10 songs, composed by guitarist Jason Staal and singer/lyricist Glenn. With the vital contributions of drummer/vocalist Rob Holm and bassist Jim Stellato, “Another Life” is a confident and accomplished debut.
