At the age of 8, Edgar De Almeida began studying classic guitar, and begun developing his musical abilities. As time went on, he discovered that he had a gift for composing music. When he was 13 years old, he joined some of the local and regional bands. In 1982 he moved to the city of Salvador, capital of Bahia with the intent to increase his musical knowledge which was influenced by some of the most famous and popular names of the so called MPB (Brazilian Popular Music). Initiating his career as a guitar player integrating the electric trios, bands and collaborating with different artists from Bahia like Luis Caldas, Sarajane and the legendary Trio Tapajos.
His International Debut
In 1990, Edgar made his first season of presentations in the Middle East, Asia and countries like Israel, Jordan and Turkey as a member of Brazilian bands and Israeli bands as well.
A spirit of Creativity
Between performances, the multi faceted instrumentalist, began developing new tendencies with the implementation of new techniques tapping, finger picking and so on. Within his many talents, another creative aspect of the artist was the invention of a new string instrument, which he named the Monofix with the help of Lutier Malleiro.
Influences
His musical passion and inspiration came from the very rich Brazilian rhythms like the sensual Bossa Nova (Brazilian Jazz), classic Chorinho and the worldwide known energized and vibrant Samba. The competency and versatility during his performances, his originality to create, and adapt to a musical composition, made him well known and respected among the musicians and midia, opening new doors to his professional work as a arranger, sound engineer in the following studios: Studio WR (Salvador),Studio Bemol(Belo Horizonte), Studio Moch( Sao Paulo). In addition to that Edgar De Almeida created arrangements adopted by different bands as Tapajos, Novos Barbaros and Araqueto, under the Company Producer Perto da Selva. He also created jingles for radio and TV network. His desire to conquer new frontiers coincided with a new opportunity to return to the Middle East region in 1997. Working individually, playing in local bars and clubs also being a member of the group Coco Locco of Tel Aviv at the famous London Cafe and Jerusalem Beach .
New Century and New Horizons
At the turn of the new millenium, Edgar De Almeida was invited to come to United States for a venue as Musical Director of a band from Bahia, a project of the Company Perto da Selva. In the year of 2001 he made his collaboration as bass player during the show of Jair Rodrigues at the SOB''s in New York City. The following year, 2002 Edgar was integrated in a tour to Marrocos where he made a few presentations at the Royal Palace along with some local musicians. At the present time he lives in the metropolitan area of New York performing with local bands in bars and social events. Besides the jazz influence, the feeling of the American groove, the fusion of international rhythms and the diversity of his Latin roots, which has a tremendous impact in his work adding a touch of elegance to his music. With his enormous ability to improvise, he turns all his melodies into magic swing. Which demonstrates a personal and very peculiar sense of his personality.
A dream come True
Owner of " Syncope Studio", he executes different functions as a producer, arranger, and sound engineer. Edgar De Almeida, continues his music development, researching all the means to perfect his craft and consequently to gain recognition as a enormously gifted musician.
