Charismatic Irish front man Frankie Hannigan started playing the London acoustic circuit in 2000 and it was here that he met guitarist Gavin Baird. The two began writing together, fusing traditional acoustic melodies with the rock sounds they had listened to growing up.
The band soon made the move from acoustic to rock venues and toured in the UK and Ireland.
The strength of the songs and power of live performances had by now impressed producer James Collins who after seeing the band play decided he wanted to record an album with them.
James explains, “There are few acts around who combine strong songwriting, an original style and fantastic stage shows. Galus have got all three in spades and I wanted to record with them before somebody else did.”
After 9 months recording the album ‘Songs from the Capricorn Room’ was complete. The band released the album independently and it has sold well, and received some good press attention and radio play.
The band are currently working on material for a new album.
