MP3 Of Shadow People - EVP1

Heavy guitars, pulsing rhythms, ethereal keyboards, and melodic vocals combine with dialog and foley effects to tell a scaaaaary story…

13 MP3 Songs
METAL: Gothic Metal, ROCK: Modern Rock

Think about what you would like to hear--what you would like to feel. A heart beat. The rhythm of breath. The footsteps toward a chance encounter. All is in music. Music reflects life as life reflects music. To make music is magical. To feel music is magic shared. Feel life and life becomes music in the simplest beating of a heart.

EVP1 is a story. It is the story of a ghost, a non-human entity, and the people who came in contact with them.

We have lived with ghosts for as long as we have lived in this life. Although EVP1 is just a nice, nasty little journey into the fictional macabre, all of the ghosts in EVP1 are real. The entity Darkness is also real in his own way…but let’s not go there right now.

Once upon a time, there was an aspiring young artist and musician living near L.A. She thought she was probably quite fortunate to be there, where there was such a strong arts industry. And if one was talented, and dedicated, and hard-working, surely one would go far.

She studied hard and received college degrees in art, and almost in music. She worked in advertising, to exercise her visual side, and she taught music to bring more of that into the world. She worked very hard in an assortment of bands, and achieved some degree of success. She was even a partner in a recording studio. She was married, divorced, and married again for good. She immersed herself in the arts industries. She did everything she was told she should do to make it in the L.A. music scene. Well, almost everything--everyone has their limits.

And as time passed, she noticed that the movers and shakers in the arts industries really didn''t care whether artists were talented, and dedicated, and hard-working. They seemed to want to clone certain artists, and leave the rest by the wayside. This was called a “marketing tool.” And as more time passed, she found that this active crushing of individuality was numbing.

So she and her husband--an extremely talented and hard-working musician who also had been scarred by the cloning process--decided to flee the L.A. area. They ran away to the far mountains in the east. They settled in a small canyon, and hunkered down, and endured. They learned how to shoo bears out the window, and to chase coyotes into the woods. They raised a family. The children were artists, too. They loved their mountain.

After a while, the mountain began to work a magick. This woman and her husband began to make new music again. Together. And she began to paint in a different way, inspired by the music they made. And they did their arts the way they wanted to do them, without bending their backs to the false standards of the arts industries.

Their friends and family really liked what they were doing. So they showed their work to even more people. And suddenly, they discovered a whole worldwide community of arts people who didn''t really want to be clones. They used the term “Indie” a lot. They were supportive of each other, and very positive about all of their various arts. It once again felt good to be an artist.

This story isn''t going to end, "...and they all lived happily ever after." That isn''t generally the case in this life. But if one can be fulfilled by the creative process, and by sharing it with others, that''s probably the best happily-ever-after an artist could desire.

So this now-more-mature artist/musician and her talented musician husband are still hunkered down on their mountain, making the music and art that has renewed their lives.

Of Shadow People is Matt Frazier, Elizabeth Frazier, and Erik Foxvog. Need a category? How about, “Dark and Delicious Theatrical Rock.” We use dialog, foley effects, and musique concrete-style electronics to bring our music and story to life. Heavy guitars, pulsing rhythms, ethereal keyboards, and melodic vocals echo our experimental and metallic influences. Storytelling just comes naturally.

We''re old. We have scars. We''re still rockin''!
