Gnani (alternately Jnani, Gyani) yoga or path of knowledge is one of the types of yoga mentioned in Hindu philosophies. Jnāna in Sanskrit means knowledge.
Yogi Ramacharaka is the pseudonym for William Walker Atkinson (1862 1932). He was an attorney, merchant, publisher, and author, as well as an occultist and an American pioneer of the New Thought movement. With his writings, he helped to popularize Eastern concepts in America. Yoga and Hinduism being particular areas of his focus. After a complete physical and mental breakdown, and financial disaster, he searched and found healing in the New Thought movement. He met with Baba Bharata, a scholar of the late Indian mystic Yogi Ramacharaka and that“s possibly where his pseudonym came from.
Although the old-fashioned language may be difficult for some modern readers, the timeless truths contained has helped many yoga students explore this kind of yoga.
