MP3 Dave Kish - Free As a Cloud

Significant moments/times in one''s life often include songs that then become personal themes, capturing the essence of those times and places. These are some of mine.

10 MP3 Songs
NEW AGE: New Age, NEW AGE: Ambient

Details:
What is ''Impressionist'' music? (My term for what I do)
If you''ve seen impressionist paintings, its the same idea.
Impressionistic art draws you into its sensory center, as though you have stepped into the picture itself. You can feel the warmth of the sun, the chill of autumn wind, the sound of ten thousand banners flapping along the parade route, the misty serenity of early morning.
Impressionist music creates these sensations and images in your mind, your own personal version, based on your life experience. No two people will ''see'' the same thing.
As every painting is one-of-a-kind, so each song is one-of-a-kind, and no two sound alike. Each is a complete daydream sequence in itself, for you to visit or revisit anytime you like.

As far back as I can remember, every significant moment or time in my life has included a song. These songs have become personal themes, capturing the essence of the time and place. Such music can come from artists that were then popular, and there are radio stations that specialize in music of time periods going back over half a century. Many of my personal themes are original songs that were suddenly just there and playing in my head, during some special moment.

The recording medium was a Teac 2340SX reel-to-reel 4-channel tape recorder, connected to a scratch-built mixing board (Craig Anderton''s Home Recording). By pre-mixing and reusing tracks, I was able to get seven layers with very good fidelity. However, this meant that everything was in single-channel (mono). I always had hopes of redoing everything in a real studio, but family came first, so it never happened, and I''m now in my sixties. And here we are in the age of internet publishing, the most democratic of all mediums. It took quite awhile to decide to go ahead and release these songs ''as is'', but I realized that the most important thing here was the enthusiasm and passion (and ability!) of the moment when the songs were newly conceived. It was an essential element of this presentation. And time and opportunity are not forever, so here I go. Every effort has been made to produce the highest audio quality possible.

About the songs

OH, IF I COULD ONLY FLY! This is all about actually being able to fly, for real! The guitar solo is in two parts that combine and separate, then come together again, just like the fluid motion of a pair of birds in flight.

FREE AS A CLOUD The smiling little boy on the album cover (me at the age of 5) tells it all. Everything is new and amazing. All the senses are taking everything in for the first time, and everything is an adventure. Those really are the ''wonder years''!

BELOVED The mountains are a wonderfully spiritual environment. Everything is on such a grand scale, and the ambrosial smells of nature completely fill your senses.

THAT''S HOW I FEEL ABOUT YOU The giddiness that comes with newly-revealed mutual attraction is very exciting. The most pleasurable of temporary insanities!

THE STRANGER The deepest insights are those that come with personal experience.

FALL BOUQUET Instrumental version of a song about evening in late autumn, and the sweet recollection of times past. There are lyrics if you''d like to check them out. (See below)

SLO TOWN This song is all about a little town on the Central California coast (San Luis Obispo). I don''t know what its like there now, but years ago, it was the kind of place you''d want to never leave.

LIGHTER THAN AIR Early morning clouds in October, cathedrals of moisture. Off in the distance, a stately procession of brightly colored hot air balloons slowly approaches.

LOVESONG FOR THE SEA A synthesis of my very first encounters with the Pacific Ocean. It was frightening (my first time was at night) but wonderful! I fell in love!

MYSTERY THEME What is it about the European spy thriller, the car chases, shots fired? The beginning riff is my version of the police sirens, cars racing recklessly through narrow streets. Rather dashing, aye what?

FALL BOUQUET

Paint with a sunrise color on the autumn leaves,
wintertime is on the way, time to make a fall bouquet,
take a day and fill it full of

gold from the meadows, summer birds are on the wing,
listen to the songs they sing, nothing like the songs of spring,
when was spring?

So long ago, when life was new,
was it a dream, or did I know,
someone like you?

Laughter of children echoes in the schoolyard trees
how they love to run and play, time to make a fall bouquet,
a fall bouquet,

Some other spring, when life is new,
oh, could it be, someone like me, meets
someone like you,

Brave little cricket, singing by himself tonight
time to make a fall bouquet
wintertime is on the way, on the way.
