My love of and journey with music began on Christmas Day in 1991. I was twelve years old and my Father gave me his guitar as a Christmas gift. My parents had been worried about not having much to give us that year. It turns out it was the best Christmas gift I ever rece...ived as a child! It changed my life forever. I threw my entire being into playing and writing songs. I had always loved music, the way it spoke through me and made me feel when I sang and played. As a teenager I lost myself in writing and playing music. Music became a creative outlet for me during my tough teen years. I truly believe God gave me my musical gifts and talent as a way to cope with and overcome hardships I endured in my teen years. Most of my music dealt with anger, struggling to fit in, alcohol, drugs and of course girls! I had a very aggressive style, which fit right into the mid 90’s alternative rock era, which was at that time in high gear. It was the simplicity of this style of music that I loved. Throughout my teen years I played and co-wrote music with my cousin Derek, who was a drummer. We would spend hours every day and night in our Grandmother’s basement. She never complained, even though we played as loudly, heavy and angry as we could. She allowed us to express our own “style” of music with no limitations. We were free to just create and be ourselves! I became a Father for the first time in 1997, and this was the catalyst of change in my music style and my thoughts and attitude about music. I was writing as my life was changing. I became a story teller, with music as the foundation. My emotions became the lyrical focal point. I joined my first band at age 21. It was a great time in my life, but I found myself desiring more for my music. I befriended another song writer/musician. This was the first time I had felt connected to another person writing music. We built a solid friendship, however we had different visions for our music. I had a desire to record and perform my own music. Over the next few years I wrote many songs. My own unique style developed. I choose to let the music flow, not caring what genre it fits into. I have always wanted to touch people through my music, and my voice can accommodate many styles.
