Colombian born, singer-songwriter José Sierra, is a Canadian artist whose work is deeply rooted in traditional and contemporary Christian and Spiritual Art & Literature, but whose musical and lyrical style are strongly influenced by 20th and 21st century Folk, Pop/Rock and World Music. He gives a soul to his songs, blending melody, voice and lyrics to form inspirational portraits in a very attractive and unique way. His songs, which offer a wide spectrum of Human and Spiritual themes, are essentially about people and their quest for meaning.
The versatile musician writes and sings his songs notably in Spanish, English and French. And while it is singing and writing that he masters, rhythm and harmony are also to be recognized, clearly showing the musician’s Spanish and African ancestral descent.
His most important recording project to date is Somos Cristianos (1997): a Spanish youth mass which responded to youth’s need to listen, sing and celebrate Latin-American contemporary Liturgy.
His music has been heard and listened to in the Americas as well as in Europe.
