Like the Beats, the artists here combine poetry with music - but in ways that are utterly contemporary. The album has in fact already been called the first New Beat recording - the first album to build, in new ways. upon forgotten traditions of the Beats.

In this album, Alexander Forbes collaborates with Capitol Records Gold Album recipient Henry Small, long remembered for his concerts and recordings with PRISM. Forbes combines his talents with an outstanding new performer, Tina Moore, who has just appeared in the Gemini and Leo Award-winning webseries “The Vetala”, to record poems that shimmer with a sound all their own.
Based out of Kamloops, BC, Canada, Forbes has written poems that have appeared in journals throughout Canada and the United States. He has given many readings in both countries, including the Vancouver International Writers’ Festival, the Shuswap Lake International Writers'' Festival, and the Red Sky poetry series in Seattle.
Forbes often collaborates with artists in other media. One of many joint exhibitions with the painter Tricia Sellmer resulted in the book “Rumour of Bees” which was followed by the gallery exhibition collections “Double Exposure”, “boppin’ with Mr. Mynah”, “Natural Correspondences” and “Sun Records and Texaco Stadiums”. A prior collaboration with Henry Small and Tina Moore resulted in the album “The Bill Miner Roadshow”.
Forbes'' short puppet novel “Oranges” has just been released by Gracesprings Collective, a writers'' association founded by some of Canada''s best known authors - including Deanna Kawatski, Kay McCracken and Caroline Woodward - and two new books of his poems, “after the moon a blue ocean” and "luminous orange," are forthcoming from Red Heifer Press in California.
A Capital Records Gold Record on his wall attests to Henry Small''s position as one of Canada’s finest singer songwriters. After beginning his career as lead singer with Scrubbaloe Caine, his PRISM albums “Small World” and “Beat Street” resulted in Top 40 hits across Canada and the USA. He appeared on Midnight Special and Solid Gold with Burton Cummings and has held writing and publishing contracts with Irving Alamo Music, Sony and Warner Bros in the past.
Recent work includes an album on his own called “Time” and a previous collaboration with Tina Moore and Alexander Forbes called “The Bill Miner Roadshow”. He has also produced other albums through his studio located in Kamloops, BC where he currently lives. He co-hosts a local morning show on CIFM as well as organizes Music in the Park, a popular summer event showcasing many talented artists from around the world.
Winner of the Great Canadian Star Search, Tina has been singing, acting and writing for years. She established a place for herself in theatre history when she starred in a musical production based on the life and times of Bill Miner, performing for audiences of over 300,000.
Tina’s work has been featured on 4 albums prior to this one. She recorded her own self-titled album featuring smooth jazzy tracks, which can be found on CD Baby. Many television appearances have complemented her theatre experience throughout Western Canada.
Currently Tina is involved in a fantastic webseries called “The Vetala” which has just won a Gemini Award, as well as a Leo Award. Her writing has been featured online and she has also started her own website and blog found at https://www.tradebit.com
