From the suburbs of North Carolina, Allison made her move to NYC after earning a BFA for acting/musical theatre at East Carolina University. Within the first four years in NYC she had performed and collaborated in two bands, one funk, "Wonderland" and one folk, "Butterpoint". Allison has three Off-Broadway credits including a two year stint as an aerialist with the smash hit De La Guarda. After a back injury Allison was suddenly forced to change her career path. Luckily her Grandmother had an abandoned house in rural NC where she was able to remain creative while healing. Her healing process afforded her the ironic luxury of time. She spent most of it writing and teaching herself how to play the guitar.
Allison has confidently emerged a singer/songwriter with a knack for creating songs in her moment. In attempts to hone her skills, she has played countless open mics, coffee shop shows, and opener slots all up and down the east coast.
Recently she has moved to Woodstock. Presently she is producing her fourth album with Logic (OPEN was produced on a Korg D12), and gigging regularly in the Hudson Valley area at noisy bars, fancy restaurants, not-so-fancy restaurants. Occasionally she can be heard on WDST on "The Roundtable" and WKZE "Off-the-Beat-n-Track. She is also on Vassar College Radio quite frequently, WVKR.
She was chosen to appear on a Mountain Dew sponsored Amp Six Pack. This will bring her music closer to the college campuses and enable her to tour more widely.
Allison's ultimate goal is to expand her awareness, expose the truth she finds, and to incorporate her training as a dancer, actor, and musician in a way that creates something altogether new for the singer/songwriter genre.
Because there are so many ways people hear and describe her music, Allison best describes her sound as acoustic soul music and folky blues with a jazz aftertaste. In addition to writing standard type songs astir heart swells and heartbreaks, she also writes astir connection, faith, anxiety, and duality. Her lyrics are poignant, and her delivery maintains a spontaneous and fresh quirky charm.
