Details:
In this age of religious pluralism (every religion is equally true), Moral relativism (that is true for you, but not for me), and doctrinal disappearances (let’s just love and not deal with that), TawfiQ Cotman-El a.k.a. tha Christologist emerges from the lab to address the nation. Following in the footsteps of the great apologists (defenders of the Faith) before him, tha Christologist burns with a great passion to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to sinners, give the skeptical answers to their honest questions, educate the new believer to what they believe and why, all the while exalting Jesus Christ before the people of this world Born in Providence, R.I. and raised as a Sunni Muslim, TawfiQ has always been immersed in religion. Upon asking him what it was like to be a Muslim he said, “It was all I knew, and therefore it was the truth”. After being separated from Islam by location and thrown into a church, he was given rituals, emotions, and rhetoric. What he was not given was Theology (the study of God), the Gospel (the saving message of Jesus Christ -Rom1:16), or discipleship (the vital key for the growth of the believer). Because of this, he was again confused and was deceived into joining the cult of the ICUPK (Israeli Church of Universal Practical Knowledge). When reflecting on his time with them he commented, “One thing I can say about them is that they study”. He was rescued by Divine providence, and was given the honor of meeting the Cross Movements Ambassador a.k.a. “Duce”. For the first time he heard the Gospel accurately and was challenged to study the faith he had just accepted. This began his mission, his studies, and his ministry. Since that beautiful day, that eternally changed his life, tha Christologist has been studying the Scriptures, theology, history, and his passion apologetics. These studies are the inspiration for his upcoming album, tha Christologist presents… Apologetics (Defend tha Faith). Recognizing that no man can come to faith in Christ by argument, he does not rely on these studies to save anyone! What he does desire to do is, using a quote from his favorite Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias, “move all the shrubs and bushes out of the way, so that people can see Christ clearly”. He is very happily married to the love of his life Michelle “pie-pie” Cotman-El, and they have one son Adonijah Elijah Cotman-El. They reside in San Antonio Texas, and are covenant members of Now Word Christian Church, under Pastor Keith Graham. When I asked him what is one thing you would like to leave the reader with he said this “The 5 Solas! Christ alone, Faith alone, Grace alone, Scripture alone, Glory to God alone!” he also had this to say, “please, please, please, take your eternity seriously, seek the Lord Jesus Christ and all His holiness, the more you see God the more you’ll see you, and your desperate need for Him!”

Album Overview
First and foremost, praise be to God in heaven for bringing Tha Christologist to Holy Hip-Hop. Your willingness to address the subject of apologetics with such creativeness, truth, and practicality is a true blessing to those believers all across the globe. I love being challenged, I love being engaged, and I love being compelled to dig in to God''s word. Some people do well at reaching their audience in a way that accomplishes all of these things at once. So when you slide Tha Christologist''s, Defend Tha Faith into your CD player, be ready to get this and more. What a blessing it is to hear someone stay true to the faith by addressing some of what I believe, as a youth leader, to be the toughest issues facing young people today. Enlightenment, evolution, and false teachings are common themes you''ll hear as Defend Tha Faith bumps the message of being an effective apologist through your speakers. Tha Christologist enlists the help of his label Narrow Path Records and founding artist G.L.O along with Maurice and Harmoni to make this project hype for Christ. When you buy this album you will get sick beats; when you buy this album you will get solid doctrine; when you buy this album you will have no choice but to break your neck due to the overall sound quality coming from your console.

Just based on the music alone, you can feel the passion for serving God this artist has. I think you must have true conviction and motivation to even conceive an idea like addressing nothing but tough questions throughout each song. Every track is its own journey. Many people, the youth in particular, have questions that demand an answer from us who claim to serve God. If we chose to submit our lives to Jesus Christ, then how can we not fulfill the Great Commission? This job we''ve been given is not just going to church on Sunday, but preaching the Gospel and relying on the Holy Spirit to help us save souls. By accepting this responsibility we must take it seriously enough to study our Word in order to be ready to answer the difficult questions. By following the lead of Defend Tha Faith, we can all learn some best practices for accomplishing that goal. As far as I''m concerned, every youth worker in America that is in the hip-hop market needs this album. The ones that are not (in the hip-hop market) might want to sincerely look into getting it because Tha Christologist has something we all need, the best ready defense since Josh McDowell.

Spiritual Significance
I don''t know where to begin. This album is basically an urban (or anyone open to hip-hop) apologetics guide on how to answer our critics. Defend Tha Faith not only utilizes sound scriptural doctrine, but situational examples of how to facilitate a conversation with someone who is misguided in their faith. If you were unsure on how to do this and are seeking guidance or are already sure and need a refreshing encouragement, then buy this album. Not only should you buy the album, but listen to it over and over until the techniques he uses become second nature. Listen again to be sure you are relying on solid doctrine and use each track as a reference for each opposing argument you face. Whether it is enlightenment, evolution, Mormonism, or Islam, you will have a ready defense for your faith. Tha Christologist is very careful to emphasize how we should be ready to defend our faith with gentleness and reverence (1 Peter 3:15 - NASB). Too many people not only use unproven doctrine to defend our Lord against world opinions and faiths, but they do so in light of debate. Arguing with anger stems from pride and in Proverbs 13:10 we know that, "By pride comes nothing but strife, but with the well advised is wisdom."

Tha Christologist, who was once a Muslim before being led to Christ by CMR recording artist the Ambassador, is now showing the fruits of being spiritually mature. This artist demonstrates that through renewal of ones heart and mind in our Lord Jesus Christ we can effectively defend the faith without being out of the spirit. In fact, if we remain disciplined in our reading of His Holy Word and meditation in prayer then we have the ability to help win souls for the Kingdom. Think about this, kids today are being inundated with false teachings all of the time; through school, television, and what they hear on the radio, they get nothing but distracted from the truth of the Gospel. If we claim to be bond servants of Jesus the Christ, we owe it to Him to learn His Word and take the time to learn about the historical evidence that supports why we believe what we believe. Don''t rely on some preacher''s catchy sayings, arguments of tradition and ritual, or sometimes even false teachings; instead, study scripture in light of scripture and spend time in the Word so that you can answer those tough questions your children might have. Spend time in the Word so that you can give the guy on the bus that sees you with your Bible and challenges you a truthful answer. You cannot win everyone over, but at least you can represent the faith in the Spirit. When I listen to this album I am encouraged more and more to keep digging in the Word so that I''m ready to defend the faith. This project has and continues to renew my spirit.

Topics covered
Defend Tha Faith addresses the art of being an apologist as the main theme of the album. Within this, he addresses current teachings that directly contradict the Bible. Tracks like "Skool Uf Artz" deal with the "age of enlightenment," where men decide what is wrong and right, thus glorifying themselves. "Defend Tha Faith Part 2" (featuring Maurice) talks about evolution, which is, as I keep finding out through youth ministry, being taught in some of our schools as scientific fact. These ideas and theories lead to self-worship which he deals with on "Me-ism" (featuring Maurice). This project also gets into false doctrines being taught in the church. Misrepresentations of Jesus being presented as biblical truth are common subjects that are tackled on tracks like "Who is Jesus Christ," while exposing false teachings becomes the main focus of "Defend Tha Faith Part 3" and "Jude 13" featuring G.L.O.

Key Tracks
"Who is Jesus Christ," "Tha Resurrection," "Christ of Tha Culture - Oh No," "Deliverance Through Discipleship," and "Religion to Relationship" are my favorites tracks. Most of the songs are off tha hook, but obviously these stand out to me.
