About Sabrina

The debut single from her eagerly-anticipated self-titled first album, "All Over Again" introduces Newfoundland-based artist Sabrina Whyatt in truly memorable fashion. A song so contagious it''ll have you singing it over and over again, it showcases Whyatt as both a gifted songwriter who can dig deep lyrically and a singer with a pleasingly melodic vocal style.

As with all Whyatt songs, it is mined from personal experience and driven with real emotional honesty. "''All Over Again'' came to me when I was out driving," Sabrina explains. "The melody came to me when I was stopped at the lights and tapping on my steering wheel. It drove me crazy, so I then had to think about the lyrics." The song was sparked by a failed relationship, but, as Whyatt notes, "I think everyone can relate to it. You decide ''OK, this is over, this isn''t good for me,'' and you think it is all behind you. Then suddenly you''ll see or hear something that is a trigger and everything comes back, all over again."

"All Over Again" exemplifies Whyatt''s skillful fusion of country and rock elements, and the track is given real musical depth by the contributions of Melanie Doane on fiddle and the sparkling backing vocals of two of Canada''s best singers, jazz star Emilie-Claire Barlow and Kathryn Rose (Sarah McLachlan).

The song is poised to bring Sabrina to the attention of the rest of Canada, but she is already something of a celebrity in her home province. You see, she has already had successful careers in Newfoundland as a newspaper journalist and editor and as a popular TV reporter and news anchor. In recent years, she has also achieved notoriety by heading her own crab fishing fleet and becoming a certified Sea Captain!

With typical passion and energy, Whyatt has also begun forging a musical career, carefully crafting her all-original material into an upcoming album. It has been produced by Michael Borkosky, a noted Toronto-based studio wizard who has produced the likes of Alannah Myles and Rex Goudie. "Mike is so good at taking my vision and songs and bringing them to life just how I envisioned them...fun and catchy," Sabrina explains. "We make a great songwriting team."

The happy first result is "All Over Again," a song destined to lodge itself in your head.
