Eli Yamin Blues Band is a unique ensemble of voice, piano, tuba and drums. Led by the joyful and creative piano of pianist/composer Eli Yamin and sanctified by the powerful vocals of Grammy Nominated Kate McGarry, deeply rooted in the African American Spiritual tradition. The bass of the band is Bob Stewart, a modern tuba pioneer who, is the grandson of a Harlem preacher and has played with everyone from Charles Mingus to Taj Mahal. LaFrae Sci, a fixture on the New York blues and jazz scene, serves up a mean shuffle and back beat on the drums and displays great taste and sensitivity when the different moods of the blues calls for.
"A Healing Song," is the band’s anthem and has been performed with audiences all over the world. It is a song about transforming your sadness into strength through the power of your breath and your community.
