“I can’t wait ‘til I don’t have to wait anymore” calls out the refrain from ‘Martian Dixon’, the first song from Labrador Dali’s new CD ‘Possum House’. This disc seems to signal that the wait, indeed, is over. Labrador Dali has arrived.
It has been two years since the band introduced itself to the world with its first CD, ''Exile on Myspace''. The time since has been spent incessantly playing live shows, growing into one extremely tight rock band.
This comes through on the new disc, as five musicians unite under the unique song stylings of Robert Emmett to create a sound unlike anything else out there today.
The rhythm section of drummer Mark Lester and bass player Gus Kenneth provides the punchy, playful framework for Rob''s striking, yet random, story-telling. This is topped off with the kinetic soloing of Ruby Harris on violin and mandolin; and the ''icing on the cake'', Lem Roby''s sustained guitar melodies.
The overall effect is glistening and energetic, four just-slightly-left-of-center pop songs that rock from start to end. Catchy and memorable, Labrador Dali''s ''Possum House'' will leave little doubt with anyone asking the band "Are we there yet?"
