Details:
Tati Rabell found her love of music early on while studying Cuban style Classical guitar in her hometown of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, where she played for a folky church choir for many years. Her early influences can be narrowed down to the Cuban Revolutionary singer-songwriter Silvio Rodriguez, whom she once wrote a letter to (which remains unanswered..) to tell him how much she hoped to one day be like him. Later on, life took her on other journeys as she pursued a Bachelors in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Masters in Film Writing and Directing. However, soon after finishing her studies she returned to her original passion pursuing music full time as a singer-songwriter. Living in Los Angeles, she has collaborated with other talented solo artists such as Jennifer Quiroz and Mandalyn May amongst others, performing almost biweekly in local LA venues, The Mint being one of her favorites. Her onstage presence is both alluring and relaxing, as she brings her audience into a world of love and music, much like the world she lives in. Greatly influenced by female solo artists such as Jesca Hoop, Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson and the likes, Tati combines a soothing voice with a refreshing style and a unique point of view to treat themes from heartbreak to existentialism with the semi-dark humor and wit that characterizes her songs. Trained independently in LA, growing within songwriting communities such as Kulak''s Woodshed and The Guitar Merchant and learning greatly from her studio experiences, Tati continues to evolve with every song and every collaboration. From folk to indie rock, jazz and Latin grooves, Tati and her band-- Matt Gendal on drums, Ben Hayflick on keyboard and Terry Carter on guitar--, bring us a musical hybrid of pop sensibilities and thoughtful compositions that make her sound original and refreshing. In 2010 Tati Rabell took her songs to the studio for the first time, self-releasing her debut EP titled TMI with the guidance and insight of accomplished producer Andrew De Lucia. With deceptive simplicity and thoughtful lyrics, TMI introduces today''s music world a bright new voice with bold words and melodies that linger.
