This album was a direct product of the Great Recession; a generation with exceedingly high expectations leaving school to find no jobs, having to come to terms with the rest of their lives. These songs came from an extremely low point in the lives of our group of friends, starting as an outlet for my frustrations and growing into a means of building a new life.
In its darkest moments, A Mixture Of Frailties speaks to the fears of a group of people surrounded by an ever worsening future outlook, drug use and suicide. This is an album as much about embracing the darker aspects of our nature, while overcoming the fear through love of friends and the appreciation of the small ethereal moments shared in the early hours of the morning while the rest of the world slept.
While this is an acoustic album consisting of vocals, acoustic guitar and string arrangements, these songs were influenced greatly by the Electronica and Pop and blasted from the basement speakers of Hamilton’s club scene. The dance floor as place of infinite hope and refuge from the world outside serves as a central backdrop to many of the songs on the album.
