Details:
This is Robert R Patterson’s best instrumental offering to date. The purpose of this collection of material is to take the listener into a world without thought and yet full of emotion and peace. One can’t help feel relaxed after listening to the entire album even though each song stands on its own.
The opening “You Bring the Rain” creates an impressionistic guitar rendition of a steady summer rain. As the rain subsides the music launches into a Latin rhythm on “Awakening”. The next piece paints a picture of the pounding of hearts on “A Song of Love” and then a simple Classical guitar piece on “Serenity”. The CD takes on an unexpected turn at this point into a meditative style with “Passage”, “Release”, and “Beyond”. These pieces are the heart of the CD and will take a listener to a place of relaxation and calm. There is a very tasteful duet between a Flat-top and a Classical guitar on the last of these three pieces. “Passage” combines a jazz feel with a classical style melody. “Release” is very nondescript and airy while “Beyond” could be described as orchestral. As the three central pieces come to a close there is a move to a much lighter feel in “Untroubled”. Once again a Flat-top and Classical duet creates a sense of movement and counterpoint. “Claire” was written in memory of the artist’s Dad with a hint of the Scottish Highlands intertwined with a Scot Joplin style chord progression. Another Classical piece follows with “Whoosie’s Lullaby” which was written in memory of an old friend. The final piece in the collection is a lullaby entitled “Little Spanish Evening”. It was written 25 years ago on a porch swing. It brings the CD to an end on a peaceful note.
These songs have been played for the past year to help the children go to sleep and to help grown ups relax. This was the basis for offering the music to others. Currently customers are listening to Patterson’s previous offering “Just Sparrows” in many different locations all over the world. It is the artist’s sincerest hope that people will also find this offering to bring relaxation to them wherever they are.
