Details:
This live CD of the trio’s 2009 Australian Tour with bonus DVD teams Diana Clark’s warm, intimate English/Portuguese vocals & Doug de Vries’ eloquent, sparkling 7-string guitar with Stephen Grant’s masterfully understated accordion.

“When you can sing in Portuguese, count Nina Simone and k.d. lang as influences, and are backed by Doug de Vries on guitar it’s hard to go wrong. It also helps that Diana Clark has an amazing voice.” The AGE [Melbourne].

“Diana’s voice…seductive & engaging…with de Vries improvising, using an impressive finger-style technique on 7 string guitar…also complementing Di’s voice by singing counterpoint melodies while Grant uplifted the music further still with his transcendental accompanying…truly a night of splendour from three of this country’s finest musicians.” President Albury-Wodonga Jazz Society

Di speaking about the ''DC3'' CD+DVD:
The last recording I released was my first all original CD (2007 EP ''breathe into time'') and the CDs before that were pretty much all brazilian bossa / popular music projects with my long-time collaborator, guitarist Doug de Vries [''a knot in the wood'', 2002 & ''3 shadows of blue'', 2004]; - plus 2 beautiful original a cappella albums I made with ''Akasa'' - a vocal + percussion group formed with singers I met while studying at the victorian college of the arts.

This new CD is a blend of these styles - and I think reflects me as an artist today - combining my love of songwriting with the inspiration I draw from ''musica brasileira'', as well as my love of singing with Dougs eloquent guitar.
Also, the new CD (titled DC3) is released under my name as the ''diana clark trio'' and is helping me move further forward as a singer-songwriter / solo artist while giving my musical director (DdV) more flexibility with his own projects & self-expression.

As a couple we are aware and supportive of each others needs - as artistic people finding ways to continue to put creative offerings out into the world...Doug has just released an album of solo guitar, he sits comfortably alongside the hottest guitar players in Australia & Brazil and I still get a thrill listening to him. [Check him on Youtube with Yamandu Costa].

One of my favorite tracks is:

Mama Africa - co-written with Brazilian Pop star Chico Cesar. We met Chico when he was playing at WOMADelaide a couple of years ago. The three of us actually hit it off in such a big way that we partied/played together every night of the festival and became firm friends. This song was a massive hit for Chico in Brasil, it''s actually almost a contemporary national ''anthem'' and now he''s co-licenced the song with my new English lyric. I am very excited about this and looking forward to recording a studio album version of it sometime too.

The reason I''m happy to have released this CD+DVD, is that it really represents what we do live and what you''re going to get if you come to our trio gig. Obviously the songs evolve and new ones are introduced, but essentially the combination of voice with guitars +/ accordion, sensual Portuguese lyrics and playful Australian spirit is at its essence. We are looking to tour more and find this is the perfect format to do it in within our contemporary jazz/folk genre. - Call it music for grown ups! Enjoy Xx Diana

"…Buoyed by gently vibrant Afro-Brazilian rhythms, Clark’s warm vocals can soften the melancholy of a yearning lyric, or coax the vibrant rhythms around her into a dance of celebration.” Jessica Nicholas The AGE
