Yellow-brown Spyglass EP Songs
Details:
By claiming such wide-ranging and genre-defining artists as Siouxsie and the Banshees, PJ Harvey, Boards of Canada and Led Zeppelin as cornerstones, Yellow-brown Spyglass draw out sentiments from a variety of minor-key rock sub-genres. From the complex constitutional rhythms and middle-eastern motifs of "Catalyst Groove" to the energising pop of "Hand in Position" exists a common thread: the seductive vocals of Kelly Godshall accompanied by a chameleon of guitar, John DeGregorio.
The two met in 1997 in Yellow-brown Spyglass's previous incarnation called Orifice which was receiving some attention from having their song "Oddity" on the Cleopatra compilation Unquiet Grave Vol. 1. John was winding down his tenure with the eminent Boston group Opium Den at the time when Kelly phoned him to see if he would join. That incarnation of Orifice dissolved after recording what would become the self-titled Yellow-brown Spyglass 5-song EP (2001) which saw a limited release but great critical acclaim. With just Kelly and John remaining they entered a period of incubation where they synchronized their styles and wrote the body of songs that appear on the forthcoming full-length debut CD entitled Accelerating Parcae due out in April 2004.
After recent successes in Austin, TX during South by Southwest (March '03) and an east coast tour (April '03) they are currently preparing to support the new album with a national promotional campaign and more touring. The band is also available for wine-tastings, Beltane parties, private film-screenings and soundtrack work.
