Details:
Tipping Point was formed in the summer of 2009 by the late great Kevin Thorpe (Out Of The Blue) who was looking for musicians to play the new “grittier” material that he had begun writing with guitarist Dominic Hollands. Recruiting fellow Out Of The Blue band mate Nigel Lobley on drums, and local bass player Paul Mallatratt, Kevin Thorpe’s Tipping Point dedicated themselves to producing powerful and finely crafted guitar led blues rock, concentrating on songs rather than endless soloing.
The group quickly developed a unique sound combining the strengths of the individual members with the song writing skills of Thorpe & Hollands, and begun recording their debut album in the spring of 2010. Initial “live” work saw them sharing the stage with blues luminaries Jon Amor (The Hoax) and King King amongst others, culminating in a performance at the 2010 Newark Blues Festival that was to quickly take on a greater significance. Tragically, shortly after leaving the stage, Kevin collapsed and passed away later that evening.
Kevin’s family and band mates felt strongly that his songs should still be heard, and so it was agreed that the remaining members of Tipping Point would complete the album and preserve his memory through live gigs, tours and festival performances. "Antedote" is Tipping Point’s debut album.
