Powerful and infusing the energy and raw emotion of punk and hardcore, Sederra is a melodic blend of expressive rock. Bound by shared experiences rather than conventional labels, this ambiguously named band formed in 2006 from the ashes of the late 90’s and emo/punk-pioneering Longfellow (Kung Fu Records). All veterans of the Orange County music scene, the original lineup consisted of bassist Eric Bootow (Fourth in Line, As Hope Dies, Jughead’s Revenge) and ex-Longfellow members: guitarist/vocalist Tom Schmitt (Longfellow), Mike Doherty (Longfellow, Papa Roach, Die Trying) and drummer Darren Reynolds (Longfellow, Home Grown). Tony Warner (Longfellow) would soon be recruited to complete the quintet, while vocalist Steve Ludwig (Nations Afire) would later replace Darren Reynolds on drums.
Debuting in 2008, the group’s self-released and self-titled EP lit a fire of interest that was further fueled by their uninhabited stage intensity and word of mouth publicity. Promoted and distributed on the road (Warp Tour, Taste of Chaos), the seven-song EP would receive regular rotation on Anchorage’s 94.7 FM, "The End" and a fan-encouraged tour of Alaska the following spring (2009). Mastered by Paul Miner (New Found Glory, Atreyu, Thrice), the album is an arresting blend of emotionally charged vocals, catchy hooks and authoritative guitar melodies that showcase both the group’s musical maturity and wide-ranging influences (Bad Religion, Foo Fighters, Fugazi, Hot Water Music, The Clash, Black Sabbath, Refused). Illustrating their broad audience appeal, Sederra has twice been nominated for Orange County Music Awards (“Best Punk Band” and “Best Rock Band,” respectively) and has shared the stage with such notables as: The Gaslight Anthem, Lagwagon, The Dirty Heads, Ignite, Death By Stereo, Unwritten Law, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Horror Pops, Bullets and Octane, The Draft, and Chuck Ragan.
