Details:
"C-Sides" is the third in a series of collections of "Rare & Unreleased" tracks from the ageless pure popster, Kyle Vincent. Named the "crown prince of soft pop" by Goldmine magazine, Vincent has been flying under the radar for years. One would be hard pressed to figure out why an artist who has been releasing consistently high quality, infectious, self-penned pop music for nearly two decades, relentlessly touring, and still has a voice taylor-made for the radio, should not be enjoying commercial success. Whatever the reason, that's a loss for the millions who have never heard Vincent's voice.

His diehard fans will certainly adore this eclectic collection of songs that didn't make it onto any of Vincent's ten (!) or so previous commercial releases. Many of the tracks would also be appreciated by any fan of 70s pop, power pop, or male balladeers. As with any rarities compilation, this one is all over the place both in tempo and quality. Save for some moments of dated production choices however, the collection is interesting from a perspective of analyzing an artist's timeline and growth. Included are the original demo versions of several favorites, ("Arianne" is a standout); some solid covers, including the Tommy James classic, "Draggin' The Line", and a duet with British singer Sonia on the old Thom Bell/Linda Creed composition, "You Bring Out The Best In Me", the latter of which is produced by Steve Levine in full Philadelphia International-era sound. Vincent also covers "Name" by the Goo Goo Dolls, and "Don't Change" by INXS in frantic House mix tempo--the origins of which are explained in the in the liners. While the thumping synth rhythm section on these two may make you want to run for the nearest club exit, even these outliers may hold some value for fans. Vincent also sings a song in Spanish and includes an early demo from his old band, Candy, produced by the infamous Kim Fowley.
