This woman-led ensemble has been making waves in the music world with their unique and versatile approach to jazz, world and now, traditional Christmas music. Their unusual instrumentation (violin, viola, percussion, guitar, bass) lends a fresh perspective to these familiar holiday tunes (as an example, the Thad Jones chestnut "A Child Is Born"--although not explicitly a Christmas song-- is changed from a standard jazz waltz to a soothing melody in 5/4 time).
