It’s a beautiful thing to be able to express what is in your heart through music - to create musical pictures in the mind. This album contains songs that I’ve written for piano and keyboards over the past 20 years, and have finally gotten around to recording. Although mostly instrumental, “First Snow / Night Sky” is a blending of musical styles and haunting melodies, that each tell their own story. Over the years, I’ve drawn creative inspiration from a number of sources. One of them is through God’s creative power, through His word and through nature. Another influence has been from my good friend, singer / songwriter – recording artist / engineer, Lenny Campbell. This album would not have been possible without his involvement and creative artistry. The lyrics to “Greatest Love” and “Where You Are”, were written by Lenny. We had a great time working on this project for the 6 months that it took to record. At times, we would be laughing so hard, that it became difficult to lay down vocal tracks. But somehow, we remained focused, and managed to complete this project on time.
My other musical influences are The Moody Blues. I love their blending of rock with orchestral arrangements. I’ve also enjoyed Dan Fogelberg, Suzanne Ciani, George Winston, Yanni, Dream Theater, Patrick O’Hearn, Elton John and Billy Joel.
I’d like to thank my wife Bonnie, for putting up with all the hours of rehearsal and recording, and the “music studio” that was set up in her dining room.
I hope you enjoy listening to this album as much as I have enjoyed writing and recording it. It’s been a great privilege to have been given the opportunity to share this music with others.
